Grand Haven Charter Township is accepting applications for the following positions:

 

LABORER

This seasonal Summer position assists in the maintenance and repair of the township buildings, grounds, parks, and facilities including painting, mowing, leaf pickup and cleaning.

Good working knowledge pertaining to the operation of basic lawn tools and equipment including lawn mowers, leaf blowers, line trimmers and various hand tools is desired. The ability to operate the aforementioned equipment is required.

This position has a starting wage of $9.48 per hour.

PLANNING AND ZONING OFFICIAL

Grand Haven Charter Township is accepting applications for the position of Planning and Zoning Official. This full-time position will work under the supervision of the Township Superintendent.

This position researches, reviews and provides recommendations on site plans, subdivision plans, rezoning and other land development proposals. Ensures compliance with Township codes and ordinances. Manages the Township’s Geographic Information System. Works with Planning Commission to complete special planning projects or studies. Reviews and drafts recommendations on Zoning Board of Appeals applications. Acts as Zoning Administrator and is responsible for interpreting and overseeing the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance. Oversees the Construction Board of Appeals process.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning or related field and a minimum of 5 years of professional planning experience (preferably in a municipal government environment) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s Degree preferred. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Working knowledge of ArcGIS preferred. Working knowledge of BS&A Building software preferred.

The salary for this position will be $52,680 - $66,349 (Pay Grade 9).
