Water Meter Maintenance
In an effort to better serve our customers, Grand Haven Township is implementing a water meter radio transceiver replacement program.
The replacement device, called a “SmartPoint®”, is a water meter radio transceiver used to read your existing water meter(s). Currently your water meter(s) has an older version of this device installed and is already being read via radio, this is simply a replacement of the existing device. As with the unit that is being replaced, a SmartPoint® does not transmit any data until it receives a signal from a gateway device, which usually occurs only 4 times each year, just prior to your utility bill.
Township Staff will be completing the installation. The installer will be wearing a Township uniform with a logo and carry a Township identification badge. These employees WILL NOT accept or request any money for payment. Anyone who is asked to pay, is billed for the work, or simply desires to confirm the installer is truly from the Township should call 616-842-5988 and speak with a representative of the Public Services Department.
SmartPoint® devices will be installed Monday through Friday between 8am-4pm. There are a limited number of evening and Saturday appointments available. Please call the Public Services Department at the number above if you are unable to schedule a weekday appointment. Please make sure the area around the existing water meter is clear of debris and allow approximately 30 minutes for the installer to complete their work.
